The School in Cortona, Italy, is a residential program that offers students the unique opportunity to take University of Alberta courses during the winter or spring terms in Cortona, a picturesque medieval hill town in southern Tuscany. Students stay in the Hotel Italia, a 15th century converted mansion in the centre of Cortona, and classes are held in the Convento, a beautiful, restored former convent dating back to the 14th century.
The School in Cortona allows students an opportunity to experience its ‘experiential learning’ which combines academics with educational and entertaining talks and field trips. Beyond the classroom walls, field trips take students to places such as Siena, Chiusi, Rome or Pompeii to bring the subjects to life. Along the way, students create life-long friendships and gain an international perspective through their education.
